“Hilarious and cute; a fluffy romantic comedy for those who love to get hurt”
This is again, a lesser known series compared to the standard anime series that we are exposed to. But it’s a shame because this is probably quite an under-rated series and I believe it deserves a review (since I believe I haven’t seen an actual review written for this series thus far). So here is my review for this series; here we go!
MM! revolves around the main protagonist Sado Taro, who is masochist. He falls in love with a girl, who is actually his male friend Tatsukichi Hayama cross-dressing. Unable to confess to “her”, Taro goes to the Second Voluntary Club to get help. There, he meets Isurugi Mio – a self-proclaimed god and saddist – and Arashiko Yuno – an androphobic who made Taro a masochist in the first place. But as the club and its members help Taro to gain the courage to confess, they slowly start to gain feelings for him.
If you love your tsundere characters, then you`ll love Isurugi Mio; a very cute tsundere in MM!, worthy of the female protagonist position
This is yet another standard romantic comedy series; as there are so many series within this genre, it is been slowly disregarded by the anime community – this may be the reason to its less known stance. The series is animated by Xebec Studios, who have done a number of romantic comedy series (such as To LOVE-ru, Love Hina and Haiyore Nyaruko-san!) as well as other genres (including such series as Zombie-Loan, Shaman King and D.N.Angel) and are thus a highly experienced animation studio who did a good job in animating this series.
Notable voice actors include Ayana Taketatsu who plays the role of Isurugi Mio (and is also known for such voices as Azusa from K-ON!, Koneko from High School DxD and Suguha from Sword Art Online) and Jun Fukuyama who plays the role of Sado Taro (and is also known for such voices as Lelouch Lamperogue from Code Geass, Watanuki Kimohiro from xxxHolic and Yukio Okamura from Ao No Exorcist).
MM! is a very funny romantic comedy/harem series that is sure to make to you chuckle (if not laugh your head off) in at least one of twelve episodes that aired. Again, it is a very under-rated anime that is not as well known as it should be. It is a fluffy, cute and hilarious S&M series that you will leave you satisfied at the end.
The Final Judgement:
Recommendation Level: 3.5/5 – Recommended
Final Score: 7/10
