Hagure Yuusha no Estetica ~ Review
“An action packed, fantastical, sexy, romantic story of a perverted hero!”
When we watch anime’s that contain highly over-powered main characters, then sometimes it really ruins the story, right? Like, there’s absolutely no challenge factor for the main character, and there’s no tension for the reader. But depending on how this powerful main character is executed, it can sometimes turn into a very enjoyable and exciting series. Well, here is one of the very few series that is exactly like that (and is also very enjoyable in more ways than one, if you know what I mean…)
Hagure Yuusha no Estetica revolves around Ousawa Akatsuki; a so-called ” rogue hero” who has come to his own world after defeating the Demon Lord from the fantastical world of Alayzard. With him, he has brought back the Demon Lord’s daughter, Myuu, and has decided to let her live with him in the peaceful human world. In the human world is an international organisation called Babel who protect people from returning to their own world. While Akatsuki and his friends try all that they can to conceal Myuu’s identity, they are found out. Akatsuki decides then to protect Myuu from the approaching dangers in order for her to live a happy life.
Although the series is known for its quite bold ecchi scenes, the plot is mostly centred around the fantasy/action genre.
The series contains 12 episodes and aired during the Summer 2012 Anime Season (July 2012 – September 2012). The series is animated by Arms Corporation Studios, who brought us such series as Queen’s Blade, Elfen Lied and more recently Maoyuu Maou Yuusha (at the time of this writing). The series covers any genres including romantic comedy, action, fantasy and of course, ecchi.
The series contains a couple of well-known voice actors including Okamoto Nobuhiko who voices Ousawa Akatsuki (and is also known as the voices of Io from Acchi Kocchi and Ougami Rei from Code:Breaker), Hikasa Yoko who voices Myuu (and is also known as the voices of Erica from Campione! and Mio from K-ON!) and Hanazawa Kana who voices Doumoto Kuzuha (and is also known as the voices of Shiro from Deadman Wonderland and Kanade from Angel Beats!).
Overall, I quite enjoyed this series for a few reasons. One of the reasons is because of the overall execution; as I explained in the introduction section to this review, an anime series can very easily be swung between good and bad depending on how the over-powered main characters is portrayed and executed within the story. In the case with Hagure Yuusha no Estetica, Ousawa Akatsuki was displayed as being the confident, witty and clever-minded character, which really suited to the way that he was executed within this story. The other reason is because I just love fantasy/action stories with ecchi elements in it; there are just so many anime series that fit in that genre which I really like (High School DxD, Kore wa Zombie Desu Ka?, etc…) and it definitely helped to become the series a good one to watch. So, give it a watch; I recommend this one to you all.
The Final Judgement:
Recommendation Level: 4/5 – Highly Recommended
Final Score: 7/10
