Mondaiji-tachi ga Isekai Kara Kuru Sou Desu yo? ~ Review

“Action packed, comedy filled, cuteness overload fantasy adventure of a lifetime!”

What do you get when you cross a literal bunny girl, a princess from another universe, a girl who can talk to animals and a highschool boy with superhuman strength and agility in one place? Well, you get this awesome piece of action/fantasy, that’s what! Now you might be thinking… “but Anime Man, that’s not too uncommon when it comes to anime! There are heaps of wacky settings and stories like this!” Well, let me tell you that although this may be true, this series is just a little bit more awesome. And here’s a little review to show you just why.

Mondaiji-tachi ga Isekai Kara Kuru Sou Desu yo? (lit. The Problem Children Are Coming From Another World, Aren’t They?), or just Mondaiji is set in a fantasy world called Hakoniwa (Little Garden) in which three seemingly ordinary kids – Sakamaki Izayoi, Kudou Asuka and Kasukabe You – are invited to through strange letters they recieved one day. Little Garden is a place where super-powers called Gifts are used to play games and join communities. The three kids join the “No Name” community to help gain its reputation and name, while at the same time decide to overthrow the all-powerful Demon Lords that rule this world.

Unlike most light novel series which fall under the romantic comedy genre, Mondaiji is best known for its high concentration in the action/fantasy genre

The series ran for only 10 episodes during the Winter 2013 Anime Season (January 2013 – March 2013). The series is originally a light novel series (which is still being serialised to this day) written by Tatsunoko Tarou and illustrated by Amano Yuu. The anime series is animated by Diomedia Studios (previously known under the name of Studio Barcelona) who have animated such series as BokuranoNogizaka Haruka no Himitsu and Campione!.

The series contains only a few well-known voice actors including Asanuma Shintarou who voices Izayoi (and is also known as the voices of Sakaki from Acchi Kocchi and Hoshino Kazuma from Hoshizora e Kakaru Hashi), Nomizu Iori who voices Kuro Usagi (and is also known as the voices of Haruna from Kore wa Zombie Desu Ka? and Nymph from Sora no Otoshimono) and others including Igarashi Hiromi, Arai Satomi and Tatsumi Yuiko.

Although the series was over-shadowed by many other great series during the Winter 2013 Anime Season, it was still recognized as being a very well put together series in terms of story, animation and overall presentation. Many fans were, however, quite angry that the series only ran for 10 episodes (many hoped it would have gone for 24, due to its popularity). Many have stated there is a chance of there being a second season, but we’ll just have to hope. Either way, this series is very original, creative, epic and cute all in one. So if you haven’t seen it, give it a go. I know you’ll love it.

The Final Judgement:

Recommendation Level: 4.5/5 – Strongly Recommended

Final Score: 8.5/10
