Senyuu. ~ Review

Senyuu. ~ Review

“The funniest 50 minutes you will ever experience!”

What do you get when you cross a Final Fantasy like concept with anime? Well, if you’re lucky you might get possibly one of the funniest shorts that you will ever come across! With each episode being only 3-4 minutes long, you won’t have very much time to enjoy each episode but in that case, you will get treated to a stomach-grinding laugh fit every episode. guaranteed!

Senyuu. is set in a fantasy world that was once taken over by the Devil Lord Rchimedes. Causing carnage to the world for 100 years, Rchimedes was finally sealed by the hero Creation. However, recently the monsters that were once ruled by Rchimedes have returned and has begun to terrorize the world again. It is now up to the descendants of the hero Creation to stop the monsters from destroying the world again.

Although the plot looks promising, the anime is known for its absurd comedy and fourth-wall breaking

The anime ran for 13 episodes during the Winter 2013 Anime Season (January 2013 – April 2013). The anime is based off a manga serialization (still ongoing to this day) written by Haruhara Robinson. The anime is animated by Liden Films Studios & Ordet Studios. While Liden Films Studios debuted with this anime, Ordet Studios have been seen as an assistant animation studio in such series as Black Rock Shooter, Fractale and Miyakawa-ke no Kuufuku.

The anime has some notable voice actors and actresses including Shimono Hiro who voices Alba (and is also known as the voices of Katsuragi Keima from The World God Only Knows and Yoshii Akihisa fdrom Baka to Test to Shoukanjyuu), Kayano Ai who voices Ruki (and is also known as the voices of Menma from AnoHana and Shiina Mashiro from Sakurasou no Pet na Kanojoand Nakata Joji who voices Rudolf (and is also known as the voices of Takagi Souichirou from High School of The Dead and Kotomine Kirei from Fate/Stay Night).

Although the anime wasn’t as popularly received as other full-length anime’s during the Winter 2013 Anime Season, those who accepted the challenge and watched this series commented its ridiculously hilarious and absurd comedy elements that have packed into each 3-4 minute episode and commented on its under-rated story and plot (or of what little there was). I totally agree with all these comments; don’t back down because the entire series was only 50 minutes long. Give this anime a go, it will be worth it. I mean, there’s a season 2 being aired so you know its good, right?

The Final Judgement:

Recommendation Level: 4/5 – Strongly Recommended

Final Score: 9/10
