The Top 100 Greatest Anime Endings Of All Time: #100 ~ #81

Top 100 Greatest Anime Endings Of All Time: #100 ~ #81

When we talk about anime endings, we’re talking about that 1 minute 30 seconds that closes off the awesomeness… or sometimes crappy-ness… of the episode that you just happened to watch. While you wait for the preview of the next episode, you delve yourself into the ending song and ending animation of the series that you love or hate. Much the same with anime openings, anime endings are just as important; the way that an anime ends each episode leaves a different impression on the anime until the next episode, whether that be good or bad.

But which anime endings are the best of the best?
Well, here is what the people of the online anime community has decided as being the Top 100 Greatest Anime Endings Of All Time! I did a similar Top 100 list with Anime Openings (check that out if you haven’t yet!) in which we received a ton of votes. This time, we have received a total of 2371 votes! That’s not as many as we received for The Top 100 Anime Openings List, but that is still a LOT of votes; enough to make a pretty accurate list.

So here, I present to you #100 to #81 in the Top 100 Greatest Anime Endings Of All Time!

#100. Eureka 7 ED 1 – “Himitsu Kichi” by Takada Kozue

To kick off our Top 100, we have this ending right here. Now I can’t say for sure, because I haven’t watched Eureka 7 (YET; I will say this now – it is at the top of my Must Watch list), but I hear a lot of people say they love this ending. And giving it a watch (and since it managed to slide into #100, I would have to agree. So nice ending; fit for the Top 100 opener.

#99. Fairy Tail ED 11 – “Glitter” by Mayumi Morinaga Feat. Another Infinity

Fairy Tail is known for many things, and one of the reasons is for its openings and endings (as well as it being called a copy of One Piece, but we’ll leave that for now…), and this ending is a prime example of how great Fairy Tail endings can be. Unfortunately, no Fairy Tail openings made it onto the Top 100 (which is a shame because some are absolutely awesome), but I’m glad this ending made it to the Top 100 at least.

#98. Guilty Crown ED 1 – “Departures ~Anata ni Okuru Ai no Uta~” by EGOIST

* There was no Youtube video for this ending, follow the link above to view the video

Guilty Crown is an anime known for its spectacular visuals, and this is nicely shown in the series openings and endings, and this ending right here is no exception (although you can’t see it unless you follow the link above). This slow paced track by Egoist creates a perfect mood for the series and its visuals, worthy of a spot in the Top 100.

#97. Beelzebub ED 3 –  “Nanairo Namida” by Tomato n’ Pine

Although we can say that Aoi is pretty during the entire series of Beelzebub, we can say that this ending makes her look more than pretty; it makes her look beautiful! Being quite different from the fast-paced 3rd opening, this layed back song with its beautiful visuals gives this ending a worthy spot on the Top 100. Beelzebub is awesome!

#96. xxxHolic ED 1 – “Reason” by Fonogenico

xxxHolic didn’t hit hard for many people, but this ending is sure memorable with Mokona dancing around to a catchy tune. I guess half the votes were for the music while the other half were for Mokona; possibly the most loved character of the series. Either way, good music for a good series.

#95. D.Gray-man ED 1 – “SNOW KISS” by NIRGILIS

To be honest, I don’t know why this ending somehow made it onto this list. I didn’t think it was that great (maybe the first 10 seconds, but that’s about it). I guess you can’t really go wrong with generic hip-hop drum beats. But I will admit that the track is pretty catchy and that the series is awesome. So I’ll leave it at that.

#94. Tatami Galaxy ED – “Kami-sama no Iutōri” by Sunahara Yoshinori

Now this anime may not be known to a lot of people, but I guess now is the perfect chance to get this great series known to the rest of the online anime community. What sets ordinary endings apart from this ending is its great combination of music and visuals; it was as if the song was made for these visuals and this series! A great song fit for a great series.

#93. Inuyasha ED 2 – “Fukai Mori” by Do As Infinity

Do As Infinity is known as the band that brought great music to the Inuyasha franchise, and this is a prime example of that. This ending is a track that defines the awesomeness of Inuyasha endings, and is a track that many Inuyasha fans alike remember the series by (besides the openings of course).

#92. Nana ED 2 – “Starless Night” by Olivia

Nana may be known for its raw and powerful openings and inside tracks, but the endings that Nana produce are still noteworthy and nice to listen to. I can’t say much more than listen and watch this ending and enjoy it. Is there anything else I can say?

#91. Zombie-Loan ED – “Chain Ring” by Mucc

Here is an ending that I was not expecting! Although this is awesome, I would’ve thought that this series wouldn’t be popular because of how much hate the opening gets (which sucks because the opening is awesome; no matter what anybody says!). So I’m happy to see that a lot of people like this ending; at least, enough to get this ending into the list.

#90. Deadman Wonderland ED – “Shiny Shiny” by NIRGILIS

Crawling into the Top 90 is this under-rated ending for an under-rated series. Although this ending is quite different to the series opening (which also made it into its Top 100), it still reached out to the viewers and gave us something uplifting and catchy. Trust me when I say this song is catchy; it was stuck in my head for a while after I finished this series.

#89. Hanasaku Iroha ED 1 – “Hazy” by Sphere

I was very surprised when this ending made it into the Top 100. While both openings for this series missed out on the Top 100, this song managed to crawl into #89! And that’s a good thing! Because I love this ending! Although I would’ve loved to have seen the second ending in this list as well (because I personally preferred that one over this one), I can’t complain now, can I?

#88. Fairy Tail ED 2 – “Tsuioku Merry-Go-Round” by onelifecrew

And here we have another Fairy Tail ending; an ending which I strongly believe is the greatest in the Fairy Tail series. This relaxing J-pop/hip-hop track is perfect for a series like Fairy Tail. Hell, I wouldn’t have been surprised if this series was used in other mainstream series like Naruto or One Piece; this piece has many opportunities!

#87. Gintama ED 2 – “MR.RAINDROP” by amplified

When Gintama meets a pop-punk song, it turns into this warm lump of happiness! This is one ending that brings back memories for me; back to the old days of watching Gintama when I was kid and laughing my ass off every episode. I’m happy that many people agree with me when I say that this ending was awesome.

#86. Arakawa Under The Bridge ED – “Sakasama Bridge” by Suneohair

I’m really happy that this ending made it onto the list. I only recently finished watching this series (and its second season) and I fell in love with both endings, so I’m really happy to see this ending here. I think I might just be a fan of Suneohair’s music. Either that or this song goes perfectly with this series. Either way, this is a great ending.

#85. Clannad ~ After Story ~ ED – “TORCH” by Lia

Now I hate to admit it, but I didn’t really like ending. Although this is one of my favourite anime series of all time, I was quite disappointed at this ending. I personally didn’t see myself liking it, which is why I found it strange when I saw this ending on the list. Maybe it’s not as bad as I thought it was… (0_o)

#84. Ao no Exorcist ED 1 – “Take Off” by 2PM

Ah yes, Ao no Exorcist… although the openings were both freaking amazing, this ending is also noteworthy. I personally love the parts where you can see the main characters dancing on the TV screens; that just adds the cherry to the cake so nicely. And who can not love this track, it’s just so damn catchy!

#83. Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood ED 4 – “Shunkan Sentimental” by SCANDAL

Speaking of catchy-ness, look what we have here! A song that has such a singable chorus, it’ll be stuck in your head for quite a while afterwards. Many people have quoted this ending to be “the greatest” and I honestly can’t disagree. There is something about SCANDAL songs and FMA that go so well together.

#82. Soul Eater ED 3 – “Baku sou Yume uta” by Diggy-MO’

When Japan meets rap/hip-hop and anime, we get catchy-as-hell endings like this one! Although it’s probably impossible for anybody to sing along to these types of songs, it doesn’t stop any Soul Eater fan from listening to it over and over again! And not to mention the awesome fluid animation by the main characters! Kakkoii!!

#81. Nodame Cantabile ED 1 – “Konna ni Chikaku de…” by Crystal Kay

At #81, we have possibly one of the greater music anime’s, Nodame Cantabile, with the first ending theme sung by Crystal Kay. I think the main reason why this ending was voted to this place was solely the fact that Crystal Kay sung it. And we all know that Crystal Kay songs are freaking chilling as hell! So I’m not complaining.

  1. The Howme

You might want to fix the video on #84 because that is an entire different song. I obviously don’t know all the songs on the list, but it might be a good idea to check them too. Other than that, keep up the good work.
