Little Busters! ~ Review
“The ultimate anime of finding friendships that last for a lifetime!!”
Ahh yes… the wonders that is Key Studios; bringing to us some of the most well-made and fantastic little series that will give you an emotional rollercoaster of a lifetime. While there are many underlying themes that sit inside a Key Studio work, one genre that sticks out a lot is the idea of “friendship”. And this series is the ultimate in the idea of friendships!
Little Busters! revolves around Naoe Riki; an average high school student who loves his friends and his school. One day, when Natsume Kyousuke returns to school from an unknown trip, he brings together Riki and his friends; a group of old childhood friends by the name of Little Busters. Kyousuke then tells the members of the Little Busters that he wants to start laying baseball to end his amazing school life. However, in order to create a basebal team requires more members… and it is up to Rikito recruit them all. However, as he meets new friends and members, he discovers the many hardships and personal problems they all hold; it is up to Riki to do something about it, in one way or another.
Like other Key Studio works, this series is known for its underlying themes and metaphors, as well as its brilliant soundtracks
The series contains 26 episodes and aired during the Fall 2012 and Winter 2013 Anime Season (October 2012 – April 2013). The anime is based of a visual novel game of the saem name created by Key Studios, who is known for creating such highly acclaimed series as Kanon, Air and Clannad. The series is animated by J.C. Staff Studios, who has brought us such series as Toradora!, Shakugan no Shana and Toaru Majutsu no Index.
The anime has a large number of characters that make an appearance, led by some very talented voice actors and actresses such as Horie Yui who voices Naoe Riki (and is also known as the voices of Hanekawa Tsubasa from the Monogatari series and Kaga Kouko from Golden Time), Midorikawa Hikaru who voices Natsume Kyousuke (and is also known as the voices of Zelgadis from the Slayers series and Softon from Bobobo-bo Bo-bobo) and Tatsumi Yuiko who voices Nishizono Mio (and is also known as the voices of Riko from Kissxsis and Leticia from Mondaiji-tachi ga Isekai kara Kuru Sou Desu yo?).
This anime is a Key Studios work while being different from a Key Studios at the same time; its the same as Key Studios work in the fact that it uses the same kind of techniques that make it an awesome Key Studios anime (such as the music; I absolutely adore the soundtrack), but it isn’t animated by KyoAni (like most Key Studios anime series are) which makes the animation style slightly different. But that isn’t to say that this anime isn’t worth watching because it’s different; in fact, its more of the reason to get your asses to the nearest streaming site and start watching this awesome anime right now if you already haven’t. It will certainly get the feels going for sure!
The Final Judgement:
Recommendation Level: 4.5/5 – Highly Recommended
Final Score: 8.5/10
