Sukitte Iinayo. ~ Review

“A heart-warming love story that will make your heart go “kyun!””

If you love your romance/shoujo manga sh*t then get ready to wet your panties off, because this here is one that will make you wish you had health care. Because there’s all sorts of romantic, cute and heart-warming stuff in this anime that is definitely not good if you have a heart that craves that kind of stuff. In which case, it’s probably the best option to get a boyfriend/girlfriend, but whatever. For the time being, you can spend your time watching this fluffy romance anime.

Ano Hi Mita Hana no Namae o Bokutachi wa Mada Shiranai ~ Review

“One of the most heart-wrenching and dramatic love story of the century”

By anime fans and fans of the series, the series is commonly referred to as “Anohana: The Flower We Saw That Day”, but I much prefer the full Japanese title, hence why I have used it in the title of the review. Now, some of you may look at the subtitle to this review an go, “Hang on, Anohana is not the most dramatic love story blah blah blah…”, but I would like to point out that it is not the best love story in anime. I am simply saying it is one of the best love stories; the best love story in anime will be saved for another review.

Anohana revolves around six childhood friends (from left to right above: Tsuruko, Yukiatsu, Menma, Jintan, Anaru and Poppo) who have since gone their seperate ways. In that time, it is learnt that Menma died in an accident. Ten years after the incident, Menma appears in front of Jintan; Jintan not knowing that he is the only on that can see Menma. Menma says that the only reason she thinks she has appeared again is because her wish was not granted while she was alive. Thus, Jintan tries his best to make Menma’s wish come true. However, while Jintan slowly starts to reconnect with his friends, he notices the struggles and conflicts between each other, and learns that in order for Menma to move on into the afterlife, the remaining five must personally move on as well.

The anime is known for its deep character development blended with element of drama and romance; situations that the viewers can easily relate to in their own lives

The first time I found out about this anime, I wasn’t too sure. I thought it would be one of those dramatic romance stories about teenagers and their “broken hearts”. But once I started watching the series, I quickly learnt that this anime is so, so much more than that. I will guarantee that Anohana will grab the attention of any anime fan; whether they be male, female, old, young, whatever. Not only is the story perfect, but it is very well executed; the critical response of this anime is so great that there is an announcement for a feature film that is due to be released in mid 2013 (which I am looking quite forward to).

If you are fan of romantic comedy, drama and human relationship stories, then Anohana is definitely an anime for you. For you information, there have only been three anime series that have been able to make me shed tears, one of them being Anohana. So even if you’re a heartless bastard like me, you will definitely need to get some tissues ready for this one.
