“A sports anime that has beautiful visuals and story (and something for the ladies)”

I’m gonna be clear with you all here – there is one genre that I always haven’t too keen with. And that is the sports genre. Don’t get me wrong though; there are some absolutely awesome sports anime series as well (*cough cough* Slam Dunk *cough*), but there also some mediocre ones. But I was pleasantly surprised with this highly looked at anime, and I just thought that I’d like to share this with you all here today. So let’s go.

Watashi ga Motenai no wa dou Kangaetemo Omaera ga Warui! ~ Review

“A hilarious yet heart-aching tale about a girl who couldn’t become popular”

Most romcom/harem anime series we watch focus on the main character, who become popular with the opposite sex as well as his friends and colleagues. But have you ever wondered what it is like for a person on the other side of that spectrum? Well, this series right here will give you a glimpse of what it is like to be an unpopular, unsociable main character of an anime series.

Kokoro Connect ~ Review

“An amazing story of love, friends and connections!”

Now here’s one that you should probably already know if you’ve been keeping up to date with all of the recent series… or should I say, all the recent awesome series. Because there hasn’t been many in these recent years, but here’s one that fits the bill. Of course, at first glance it doesn’t look all that flashy, new or interesting. But they always say, never judge an anime by its cover. And that rule especially applies to this anime; it may not look like much, but the insides are freaking awesome.

Baka To Test To Shoukanjyuu ~ Review

Baka To Test To Shoukanjyuu ~ Review

“A hilarious mix of stupidness, cuteness and overall awesomeness!”

This anime is a one that I have been leaving for a while now; not because I didn’t really want to watch it, but because I forget all about it. And I’m quite glad that I remembered again because this series was a lot better than I expected it to be.

Baka To Test To Shoukanjyuu revolves around Akihisa Yoshii, known as the idiot (or “baka”) of the title, who attends a school that is quite different from your average school. In this school, classes are separated based on the basis of academic levels ranging from highest to lowest between class A to F. Akihisa being the idiot, is in class F along with a whole bunch of friends. During the separation test at the start of the year, Mizuki Himeji becomes sick and is unfortunately struck into the F class (even though she has an A class level). Not only do the standards of classrooms change in each class, but different classes can battle each other in what is called the Summoned Being War, where students summon beings and fight using their academic abilities. The story follows the misadventures of Akihisa and his group of companions from class F to defeat all the classes and reach class A.

The series uses high amounts of parodies and references to other anime series as well as the occasional use of absurdist elements

The story is mostly centralized in the romantic comedy genre, however the series uses a blend of many genres; the most obvious being parody, fantasy, school life and harem. The plot and the overall setting of the world in this anime is also quite unique and doesn’t fail to tickle the beards of gaming fans with the use of the concept of “summoning beasts”. The overall excution os the story and animation is also very well done, Studio Silver Link was in my opinion, the perfect place to get this series animated (Silver Link animated such notable series as , Dusk Maiden of Amnesia and Kokoro Connect). A noteworthy voice actor is Hiro Shimono who plays the voice of Akihisa (famous as the voice or such characters as Hiro Hirono from Ef, Keima Katsuragi from The World God Only Knows and Haruka Kasugano from Yosuga No Sora).

Overall, this series is very enjoyable to watch an will definitely leave you in stitches at the end of each episode. And if you enjoyed this, then you’ll be glad to hear that there is also season 2, which I am still waiting to watch. But b now watching the first season, I will know that next season will be just as great.

The Final Judgement:

Recommendation Level: 4.5/5 – Strongly Recommended

Final Score: 8/10
