Ergo Proxy ~ Review

Ergo proxy ~ Review

“An amazingly complex tale of what it means to be human”

One genre that I truly love (and that I believe is highly under-rated) is the cyberpunk genre. Cyberpunk not only introduces us to some of the most badass characters that have ever been conceded, but it also gives us many wonderfully put together stories that are just waiting to be dug up by the mainstream. And this series right here is one of the many black diamonds that is hidden in the cyberpunk genre.

The Top 100 Greatest Anime Openings Of All Time: #20 – #11

~ The Top 100 Greatest Anime Openings Of All Time: #20 – #11 ~

Anime openings… it’s only a short minute and a half long, but it gives us just that little glimpse of the big picture. The stories, the characters and the overall feel of the anime series can be presented so well (and entertainingly) in a minute and a half. Us anime watchers love those anime openings; whether it’s listening to the song, watching the animation sequence, or in most cases: both! Some anime openings are better than others in more than many ways… but which are the best of the best?

Well, here it is! The Top 100 Greatest Anime Openings Of All Time as chosen by you! The anime lovers, fans and fanatics of the online wonderland!
I’ve been collecting votes for about 2 months, and the feedback was extraordinary.

That’s truly amazing! And I thank each and every one of you that voted! Thanks to you guys, I managed to create a list that truly separated the good openings from the epic openings.
Although I had absolutely no part in this list, it seems that my anime-music sense was spot on with the rest of the community; most of my favourite’s obtaining a spot in the top 100.

Well… without further ado, let’s start presenting the Top 100 Greatest Anime Openings of All Time!
I have spit the list into a number of parts (to gain a little tension effect) so for this post, here is #20 to #11 in the Top 100 Greatest Anime Openings of All Time!

Samurai Champloo ~ Review

Samurai Champloo ~ Review

“One of the greatest and coolest shows I have ever seen!”

Do you know this series at all? If you don’t then I’m sorry but  you don’t deserve to call yourself an anime fan, anime lover or even an anime watcher. Because this series is an absolute must watch series to gain the title of “the anime fan”. It may just look like your ordinary samurai anime… but you’d be very, very wrong. So very, very wrong…

Samurai Champloo is set in a fictional version of the Edo Period, where everything has a hip-hop twist to it. The main heroine Fuu meets two powerful swordsman, Mugen and Jin, and asks them to accompany her on her search for “the samurai that smells of sunflowers”. But of course, there are many troubles and tasks along their journey; saving lives and taking lives, they each search for their own things.

The series was highly acclaimed for its unique execution, concept, plot and animation style

The series consists of 26 episodes and aired during the second half of 2004. The series is animated by Manglobe Inc., who later went on to animate many iconic series include Ergo Proxy, Deadman Wonderland and The World God Only Knows. The series is known for its iconic soundtrack, consisting of such artists as Nujabes (RIP Lord of Hip-hop), Minmi, DJ Tsutchie and Force of Nature, making the Samurai Champloo OST one of the most iconic and unique soundtracks in anime.

The series consists of many well-known voice actors who later went on to become iconic voice actors in the anime industry; such voice actors include Nakai Kazuya who voices Mugen (and is also known as the voices of Zoro from One Piece and Hijikata Toushiro from Gintama) and Kawasumi Ayako who voices Fuu (and is also known as the voices of Sakuraba Aoi from Ai Yori Aoshi and Saber from Fate/Stay Night).

The animation, plot and character development are all very cleverly constructed and presented, which helped this anime to become so enjoyable, yet unique at the same time. In some countries, it even sparked a “samurai boom”, due to the anime being released in dubbed versions in the US and Australia (I don’t know if that’s true, that’s just what I heard). But I have no doubt in saying that this anime series is amazing and it definitely deserves your full attention if you haven’t yet seen this. You’ll want to be a little bit samurai after watching this as well, I think.

The Final Judgement:

Recommendation Level: 5/5 – Highly Recommended

Final Score: 9.5/10

Top 10 Personally Favourite Anime Songs I Can’t Stop Listening To

Top 10 Personally Favourite Anime Songs I Can’t Stop Listening To

You know those songs that you have on your iPod/MP3 Player that you listen to almost every day of the week, but somehow never get bored of it? We all have that one song. Well I’m about to introduce to you my personal list of anime songs that I just can’t stop listening to. As I listen to anything from anime openings, endings and OST’s, there are a lot of songs that I could have added onto the list (I actually wanted to make this a Top 20 list but figured you guys wouldn’t want to sit through a long list like that).

Just to remind people; this is my personal list and so the results may differ for different people. I’ve also added a Youtube video of the full OP/ED/OST so you can check the songs out to see why I included the song on the list. OK! Let’s get the list going! At Number 10 is…
